Has anyone had their DSG repaired outside the dealership?
So I'm in a bit of a pickle and I could really use some honest advice from people who've been through this before. My 2016 Jetta GLI has been my pride and joy since I bought it, but over the last few weeks I've noticed this really unsettling jerking sensation when the gearbox is downshifting, especially when I'm coming to a stop at traffic lights. It's not super violent or anything, but it's definitely not smooth like it used to be and I can feel it getting progressively worse. I took it to the VW dealership for a diagnostic and they confirmed it's something to do with the mechatronics unit, but the quote they gave me was absolutely eye-watering, we're talking nearly half of what the car is worth. I just can't justify spending that kind of money, especially when the car itself is getting on a bit in years. I've been asking around and a few people have mentioned that there are independent workshops that can rebuild these DSG units for a fraction of the cost, but I'm really nervous about trusting something as complex as the gearbox to just anyone. I've been doing some research online and it seems like there are places that specialise in these specific transmissions and actually know what they're doing. What I'm really after is Quality Volkswagen engine and gearbox repair in Abu Dhabi because I want to make sure whoever works on my car actually has the experience and the right tools to do the job properly. I don't want to end up in a situation where I pay less upfront but end up with more problems down the line because someone didn't know what they were doing. Has anyone here had their DSG repaired at an independent garage and had a good experience? I'd love to hear some recommendations or even warnings about who to avoid. Really hoping I can sort this out without having to sell the car.
